Half of crust is made from Feldspar which is a mineral made of Silicon, Oxygen and other elements.

Oceanic crust is thinner as compared to the continental crust. The mean thickness of oceanic crust is 5 km whereas that of the continental is
around 30 km.

Oceanic crust is made up of heavier rocks having density of 3 g/cm3. The type of rock found in the oceanic crust is Basalt.

  1. The Divergent boundaries form the Mid-oceanic ridges.
  2. Island Ridges are formed through the movement of convergent boundaries.
  3. There are three ways in which convergence can occur. These are: (i) between an oceanic and continental plate; (ii) between two oceanic plates; and (iii) between two continental plates – Continent Convergence.
